It is with genuine sadness that the McLean Orchestra announces the passing of Capt. Robert “Lem” Miller, USNR (ret.), beloved father and dear friend, supporter and trustee of the McLean Orchestra. Lem served in the Navy/Navy Reserve for 26 years and retired at the rank of Captain. He worked for the federal government and contractor companies in the DC metro area over a 43 year career in systems engineering. He retired while working for SAIC. Lem was an avid lover of the fine arts. As a kid he played the alto saxophone and sang bass in choirs in high school, college, and in church. He sang with the Texas All State Choir in 1954. In his adult life Lem performed in the 70′s and 80′s with the Fairfax Jubilaires and the Alexandria Harmonizers (Barbershop choirs).
